NOTD : Pink, Purple and Blue Splatter

Hey there everybody ! I've got a new design for you all today, I meant to write this post earlier in the week but time just ended up escaping me and it somehow got delayed until today ! I hope you enjoyed my piCture pOlish blog fest post on Monday, as I really enjoyed taking part ! Anyway, I'm thankfully back at home again now with all my nail varnishes and a light box, so normal nail art can resume again !

I did this design the other day, but when it came to sitting down to do my nails, I didn't know what I wanted to do (as usual) so I asked my genius mother and she said splats. I figured I hadn't done a splatter mani for a while so it was about time I tried it again ! It's still just as annoying to do, the nail polish gets everywhere and you have to make sure you have a decent amount of nail varnish actually inside the straw before you blow, but I got there in the end !

I started with a base of American Apparel T-Shirt, and then using a straw, I "splatted" the design using American Apparel Hassid, P2 Break the Rules, OPI Can't Find My Czechbook and OPI Suzi's Hungary Again. I really like the combination of these colours together, they're bright but not in your face at the same time, a plus in my book !

NOTD : UV Neon Splatter

Hey there guys ! So today I've got another NOTD installment in tune with the theme with tonight's UV Party for Freshers' Week ! I actually purchased my first ever neon polishes a couple of weeks back especially for this manicure, I've had it in mind ever since I found out all the themes for the parties this week ! Great news is, it came out exactly as I imagined it !

Now this is only the second ever splatter mani I've done, and I'm pretty sure I've worked out a technique that works for me every time which I'm super happy about ! Basically what I do is paint the polish directly on to the straw before each splat, as opposed to making a blob of polish on a piece of paper or protective surface or whatever and then dipping the straw into the polish blob. It works way better for me, anyone else ?

For this design the polishes I used were American Apparel T-Shirt for the base, then for the different splatter colours I used Flormar N006, N013, N014 and N015 (so irritating that these polishes don't have names, I tried looking to see if they had names online but no such luck, I could only find the codes). I'm really happy about how this look turned out, I also put a quick coat of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow over the top before putting Seche Vite on, so hopefully that'll light up when I go to the party tonight !

So that's all for today ! I hope you like this design as much as I do ! I think I prefer this splatter mani to the first one I did about a month ago, what do you think ? I actually prefer the white base on this manicure as well, although I did like using the nude polish as a base for the first splatter to make for a more discreet (if that's possible) splatter mani !

NOTD : Bright Splatter

Hey there everyone ! Another late post again I'm afraid, I was up late last night and had barely any sleep, so I've been napping this afternoon and didn't do my nails until gone 7pm. But never fear, today's mani is a new technique in my repertoire, and I'm really excited to share it with you !

Ta da ! My first ever splatter manicure ! I have tried to do splatter designs before, but I could never get the technique right and I hadn't sussed what sort of polishes to use, and generally ended up with giant splodges of polish that didn't resemble anything much at all ! I had originally planned to just do a nude colour with pink splatter, but I ended up going completely mad and went for three different colours !

For this design, the polishes I used were OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh ?, Barry M Pink Flamingo, Barry M Yellow and Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream. When it came to the actual splattering, I didn't end up dipping my straw in a blob of polish on my workspace, but instead I just painted the polish straight onto the straw, which worked great for me !

So there we are ! I really like this mani, although I think the colours would have "popped" more had I used a white base (but I'm trying to refrain from using any white as bases at the moment, until my Seche Restore arrives, that is) ! Have you ever had any problems with splatter manis ?
